Governors

Welcome from the Chair of Governors

On behalf of all the governors, I wish you a warm welcome to Northview Primary School.

We have high aspirations for all of our pupils, regardless of their background. Our small size means that our committed staff can treat every child as an individual and support them to achieve their full potential. We are very proud of the success achieved by children and staff at Northview and we are committed to not just maintaining but improving high standards of education and wellbeing.

Our governing body is made up of a mix of parents, staff, local authority appointed, and co-opted members of the community. As a parent of children at Northview, I feel privileged to lead a team of governors who work hard, on a voluntary basis, to share their various fields of expertise to guide the school’s strategy and development.

The governing body’s role is to ensure the welfare and education of pupils by:

  • Setting the aims, objectives and policies of the school
  • Acting as a source of challenge and support to the headteacher (a “critical friend”)
  • Helping the school to achieve its goals for pupil achievement
  • Overseeing the school’s finances and use of resources
  • Appointing senior staff

While the work we do as governors is largely around the strategic direction of the school, we always enjoy coming into school and look forward to talking to children, staff and parents. If you would like to talk to me or any of the other governors about anything related to the school, please do make contact through the school office.

Best regards,
