At our school, we are proud to implement the Science Mastery programme, which enhances the quality of our science education and supports our goal of developing well-rounded individuals. A successful primary scientist should possess not only the foundational knowledge and vocabulary of science but also the skills to apply this learning through effective questioning, observation, and the execution of investigations or problem-solving tasks.
We focus on equipping all pupils with the ability to gather, record, and discuss data, whether through simple sorting activities or more extensive exploratory investigations. Our science curriculum is meticulously designed to align with our broader educational objective of nurturing the ‘whole child’. To this end, we provide ample opportunities for outdoor learning related to scientific principles, thereby fostering a deeper understanding of the natural world.
Additionally, we contextualise our science lessons within the ‘real world’ by introducing students to various scientific careers and the professionals behind them. This approach not only enriches our pupils’ learning experiences but also inspires them to envision future pathways in the field of science.
