PE and Sports Premium

What is the PE and Sports Premium?

 The PE and Sports Premium is additional funding provided to schools in the United Kingdom to enhance the quality of physical education (PE) and sports provision. It was introduced by the government to improve the health and well-being of young people and promote an active lifestyle. The funding is allocated to schools based on the number of primary-aged pupils they have.

Purpose of the funding:

Schools will have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport but will have the freedom to choose how to do this.

Possible uses of the funding include:

  •  Providing targeted activities or support to involve and encourage the least active pupils;
  • Encouraging active play during break times and lunchtimes;
  • Establishing, extending or funding attendance of school sport clubs and activities and holiday clubs, or broadening the variety offered;
  • Adopting an active mile initiative;
  • Raising attainment in primary school swimming to meet requirements of the national curriculum before the end of key stage 2. Every child should leave primary school able to swim.

 In 2023-2024 the school was allocated the sum of £17,756

PE and Sports Premium funding for 2024/2025 is £ 18,020
